Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Latter Day Saints Church at Rhodes for Mrs. David Thompson, age 83. Her pastor, Elder E. G. Baie of Blythedale, Mo., was in charge. He read, at her request, the sixth chapter of Matthew, from her own Bible, and used Math. 6-21 for a text.

A quartette sang. Burial was in the Rhodes Cemetery beside her husband. Sarah Pentico was born December 25, 1848, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Mowery, at Horton, Mo., Jan. 25, 1932. She took a stroke and lasted only thirty-six hours.

Her early life was spent in Jasper County on a farm, later they moved to Story and then to Marshall County. Her later years were spent in Rhodes except for a short time in Missouri.

She was united in marriage to David Thompson in 1856. To this union were born Emma, wife of Ellis Lowery of Marrel,
Nebr., Ellen, wife of Jesse Mowery of Horton, Mo., Jenny, wife of Wm. Mowery, died in youth, Mary, wife of Wm. Girton of Academy, So. Dak., Emmet Thompson of North Yakima, wash., Millard of Margo, Canada, Guy of Olin, Harvey, Walter, and Amos live at Rhodes.

Mr. Thompson died July 17, 1919 at Rhodes. Mrs. Thompson united with the Methodist Church in early life and in 1915 she and her husband united with the Latter Day Saints Church at Rhodes and were faithful workers.

Mr. and Ms. Jesse Mowery of Missouri and Mrs. Wm. Girton of South Dakota and the sons who live in Iowa were here for the funeral. The family owned a farm near Kintz School where Ed Haley Jr. lives now and were residents of this township many years. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 4 Feb 1932.
