TRAGIC DEATH OF BRICK GLASSCO

MAN BORROWED GUN AND SHOT HIMSELF THROUGH THE HEAD

TRAGEDY PROBABLY CAUSED BY DESPONDENCY OVER HIS ILL HEALTH.

Brick Glassco, 48,m is dead at his farm home southeast of here in Indian Creek township today, from a self inflicted wound from a 38-calibre revolver.

Glassco took his life some time late Sunday afternoon or last night.

He had gone over to the McIntyre home nearby Sunday afternoon and borrowed the revolver from a Jim Rocks, a farm hand, telling Rocks that he wanted to use it to shoot a rabbit.

Leaving the McIntyre home he failed to arrive at home during the night and about eight o'clock this morning, his body, cold in death, a bullet round through the head and the revolver clasped in his right hand, under his prostate body, was found lying against a straw stack.

His tracks led directly to the straw stack from the McIntyre home.

As soon as the body was found Sheriff Nebergall was notified and he, with Coroner Mills, went down and looked over the situation but decided no inquest was necessary. It is thought that despondency, brought over ill health, was the cause of the dire tragedy.

He had been a sufferer from rheumatism and other complications for the past year or more. A trip to Colorado with the thought of benefitting his health, failed to bring the results and since his return he had often been in brooding spirits.

He leaves besides his wife and the children, the eldest a son about 23 years of age; a number of brothers and sisters, all of whom were at the scene of the tragedy this forenoon. No arrangements had been made for the funeral services at noon today.

Glassco was a well known resident in that community, in which he had lived for years. He had been farming the old Dunahoo place just east of Iowa Center and it was upon this place that the tragedy occurred.

Members of the family are prostrated with grief over the tragic loss of the husband, father and brother.
