Funeral services for Wm. Vasey were conducted at the Christian Church by Rev. John Adamson. Burial was in the Collins Cemetery.

Mr. Vasey died at his home south of Collins, Saturday, after a long illness, age 86 years, 5 months. He was born in Yorkshire, England, in 1845. In 1861 he came to Franklin County, Illinois. In 1868 he came to Iowa near Peoria City and since 1883 has lived on his farm on 64. His wife, Anna Oxley died in 1896.

Two sons, Henry and Chancey preceded him.

Five sons and three daughters, John of Austin, Minn., Charley, Arthur, Rollo, Jesse, Mrs. Euclid Harsh, Mrs. Arthur Hand all of Collins and Miss Ellen Vasey, who stayed at home, survive. He leaves two brothers, George and Joseph Vasey of Collins, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was baptized in the Church of England when a child. Mr. Vasey was one of the leading stockmen and farmers of the community. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs. 22 Oct 1931.
