Eleanor Hausfeld Redmond, age 87, of the Westhaven Community in Boone and formerly of Ames, died at Westhaven on April 15, 2015. She has been cremated.

A memorial reception was held at Westhaven Community on Friday, April 17th.

Eleanor Marion Hausfeld Redmond was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on January 19, 1928, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Pontius) Hausfeld.

After graduating from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati in 1945, Eleanor attended two years of business school.

On August 13, 1949, Eleanor married James Redmond in Cincinnati.

The couple lived in Santa Monica, California, Frederick, Maryland, and Gainesville, Florida. From 1962 to 2014, they lived in Ames, moving to Westhaven last year.

Eleanor was a mother and homemaker and enjoyed working with stained glass, reading mystery books, and traveling extensively with husband James.

She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and four sisters.

Eleanor is survived by her husband James of the Westhaven Community; a son Cleve Redmond and his companion Lisa Schainker of Ames; a daughter, Jill Buschmann of Maple Grove, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Luke and Leah Buschmann; and several nieces and nephews.
