Dorothy Irene Riedemann 78, Ames, died Friday, March 20, 2015, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dorothy was born August 12, 1936, in Red Oak, the daughter of Carl E. and Minnie (Sweeten) Carlson of Coburg. Dorothy was a 1953 graduate of Coburg High School. She is a member of Elim Lutheran Church.

Dorothy married the love of her life, Jack, on July 8, 1956 in Red Oak. The couple has three children, Gary (LeAnn) Riedemann, Edmond, Okla., Diane (Joe O'Brien), Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mark (Cindy), Jewell.

During her life, Dorothy enjoyed 58 years with Jack, square dancing, working on projects on the couple's acreage near Jewell, hosting family meals, camping, playing with her dog, Mack, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Donald Carlson.

She is survived by her husband, Jack, three children and their spouses; four grandchildren, Chad & Austin Riedemann (Mark), Kyle Riedemann (Gary) and Kelsey O'Brien (Diane) along with one great-grandchild, Olivia; three sisters, Shirley (Dave) Dekay, Stanton, Ruth (Cleo) Mathis, Boulder, Colo., and Marian (Roger) Johnson, Shenandoah, plus several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, with a visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at the Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.

Memorials may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, or Elim Lutheran Church, Randall. Dorothy will be dearly missed while her loving memory lives on.
