In Memory of
Beverly Jenice Couchman
January 27, 1927 - March 22, 2015Beverly J. Couchman, 88, of Ames, passed away March 22, 2015 at Riverside South in Ames, IA. Family will greet guest from 2-3:00 p.m prior to service. The Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on April 18th at Stevens Memorial Chapel (607 28th St., Ames, IA 50010). Bev's desire was to be cremated and burial will be at a later date in Corydon, Iowa.
Beverly was born January 15, 1927 in Allerton, IA to Orval and Myree (Clark) Bone. She was married to Paul R Couchman on June 30, 1944. They were blessed with two sons and two daughters.
She loved working with children and was a Girl Scout, Cub Scout, and 4-H leader. She also worked in the kitchen and drove a bus for the Cambria-Corydon (Wayne Comm.) Community school district. She was active in the American Legion and DAV in many of the places they lived. Her and Paul loved bowling and owned a small bowling alley at one time. They also managed senior housing units before retiring.
Beverly and Paul lived in Allerton, Corydon, Belmond, Waukon, Conrad, Boone, Nevada and Ames, IA. They also lived in Phoenix, AZ during her life.
She is survived by her children; Ken Couchman of Clive, Joyce Carpenter of Newton, and Dee (Gary) Sprecher of Boone; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, sister-in-law; Audrey Couchman of Corydon, brother; Edwin (Edwina) Bone of Belvidere, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband; Paul, her first born son; Marvin, her parents; Orval and Myree, sisters; Margret Ramsey, Louise Ockerman, Evelyn Duckworth, and Bernadine McGee, brothers-in-law; Kermit McGee, John Duckworth, Robert Ockerman, Ira Ramsey, daughter-in-law; Denise Couchman, granddaughter-in-law; Kristi Couchman, son-in-law; Bud Carpenter, sisters-in-law; Coy McKee and Cleo Grismore, brothers-in-law; Dale Couchman, Wilson Grismore, and Shorty McKee.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Riverside South for the great love, care, and friendships she had there.
