Violet “Vi” Marie Davis, 71, of Maxwell, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Vi was born June 19, 1943 in Ames to Virgil and Margaret (Davidsen) Bappe. She was an alumni of the Nevada High School class of 1961 and attended Bernels Cosmetology School, where she also worked as an instructor after graduating. Vi worked over 20 years as a hairstylist for A Cut Above while living in Florida. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Maxwell. She enjoyed shopping, watching her favorite shows (Dancing with the Stars and American Idol) and watching movies. Vi loved being with her family, especially watching all her children and grandchildren in their various sports and activities.

Vi is survived by her children: Jeff Hennick (Conley Stagg) of Porter, TX, Dennis (Darice) Hennick of Nevada, Theresa (Tim) Peters of Maxwell and Robert (Deanna) Davis of Maxwell; her brothers, Larry (Judy) Bappe of Arkansas, Dan (Karen) Bappe of Nevada, and John (Carol) Bappe of Colo; her sisters, Betty (Leonard) Davis of Nevada, Shari (Rick) Dobson of Nevada and Lori (Rod) Sheely of Maxwell; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carroll Hennick; her significant other, Rich Hennick; a son, Rodney Hennick; and two sisters: Carol Ann Miller and Jody Riney.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 20 at the First Presbyterian Church in Maxwell with a luncheon to follow the service. Cremation will take place after the service and private burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date in the Maxwell Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA.
