JOHN BRIGGS

John Briggs, 74, native son of Nevada, died at his home at Palo Also, Calif., February 3, according to word reaching relatives here. Funeral and burial was at Palo Alto by the side of his wife who died a number of years ago,

Word reached Nevada through a letter written by a son Devoe to Mrs. Margaret Moran, a cousin of the deceased. He leaves another son Samuel, also living at Palo Alto.

Besides two sons he is survived by his brothers George Briggs of Eagle Rock, Calif., and Fletcher Briggs of Cambridge, Mass., and two sisters, Mrs. Abbie Withey of Ontario, Calif., and Mrs. Letta McCall of Sierra Madre, Calif. The deceased was the eldest of the three sons of Samuel W. and Cornelia Palmer Briggs, pioneers of the county and Nevada.

For many years the senior Mr. Briggs was engaged in the drug business in Nevada and built the double front building at the northwest corner of the intersection of Main and K avenue, now owned by Mrs. Belle Henrehan and occupied by the Tipton drug store.
