VICTOR R. HINES

Victor R. Hines, 66, 1418 Summit St., died March 7 at Mary Greeley Hospital.

Born in Nevada in 1902, he was employed as a metal smith in his earlier years. He came to Ames as a sheet metal worker and was employed by Jones Sheet Metal and Carr Hardware.

Following a heart attack in 1951, he went to work for the Iowa Highway Commission where he worked until he retired in 1965.

Mr. Hines was a Naval veteran of World War II and a member of the Seabees from 1942 to 1945.

He is survived by his wife Ethel; a daughter, Mrs. Alvin Peterson, Austin, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Lee of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Melvin Magoon of Slater and Mrs. Bernice Graves, 1318 Kellogg Ave.; a brother Joe Hines, Denver, Colo. and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. March 11, with the Rev. E. E. Peters of the Evangelical United Brethren Church officiating. Burial was in Ames Municipal Cemetery with military rites.
