Rosina Mortensen, 74, of Ames, passed away on Tuesday, October 7th, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 10, from 5-6:30pm with a Vigil at 6:30pm at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames, Iowa (2900 Hoover Ave., Ames, IA 50010, Phone 515-233-3092). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 10:00am, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with burial to follow at Ames Municipal Cemetery, (310 E 9th St, Ames, IA).

Rosina Martin Mortensen was born September 26, 1940 to Ernesto Martin and Regina Mendoza in Choluteca, Honduras. She was a graduate of UCLA. She married Cecil Mortensen from Rancho Palos Verdes, California and they were blessed with one son Michael Mortensen.

Rosina enjoyed gardening, reminiscing with family and friends and was active in L.I.F.T. attending many L.I.F.T. activities with her friends. Rosina was dedicated to her Church and her religious beliefs and was an active volunteer for her religious community. Rosina was a considerate, caring and thoughtful Mother who was proud of her Son's accomplishments and hard work.

Rosina is survived by her son Michael, a sister Rina Villeda of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, a sister Norma (Carlos) Reyes of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, a brother Mario (Mercedes Sofia) Martin of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, her former husband Don Lange and a multitude of Nephews and Nieces in Honduras and the United States. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Mortensen, her parents Ernesto Martin and Regina Mendoza and a brother Alix Martin.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the family.
