Betty Lorene Lawson Arthur, born March 7, 1927, in Rosemont, West Virginia, rejoined her husband, Olin on September 8, 2014. They married in Charleston, West Virginia on July 17, 1944. They moved to Ohio after their wedding and remained there until moving to Roland, Iowa in 1983.

Betty was a seamstress and ran her own business for a while making clothes and toys for family members. She enjoyed cooking big family dinners and having family gathered around.

Betty is survived by three children: Sharon Moore (David), Margaret Zenn (Robert) and John (Jackie); her sisters-in-law, Carolyn and OnaLee; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one step-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin; her siblings, Maridiah, Elmer (Wanda), James, Guy (Leona) and Jack; John’s wife, Sandy; one great-grandchild, Eric Gregory Richards; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2014, at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. A joint graveside service for Olin and Betty will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Betty requested donations be made to the American Heart Association.
