Steven J. “Speed” Myers, 66, of Maxwell, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.

Steven was born March 12, 1948, in Ames to Fred and Maxine (Stebbins) Myers. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1966 and served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Steven was a member of the VFW in Maxwell. He had worked for Titan Tire until his retirement in 2004 and enjoyed traveling.

Steven is survived by his mother, Maxine Myers of Grimes; his brother, Gary Myers of Maxwell; and his sister, Patricia (Tom) Oswald of Grimes; and 18 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial graveside service with military honors will be 10:30 AM, Friday, September 5th, at Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell. Following the Service, everyone is invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life at Pals in Maxwell.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW in Maxwell.
