Barbara Joanne Welsh, 63, of Colo, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Barb was born September 18, 1950, in Minneapolis, MN to Carson and Joanne (Carey) Smith. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1970, and was united in marriage to Gene Welsh on July 21, 1972, in Nevada. Barb had managed the Broaster Restaurant in Nevada, which her parents owned for many years; she also had her own business as a Princess House Sales Consultant. Barb enjoyed traveling and never met a stranger.

Barb is survived by her husband, Gene of Colo; her daughter, Theresa (Ryan) Maher of Baxter; three grandchildren, Chase Maher of Des Moines, Jordan Maher of West Des Moines and Abby Maher of Baxter; her mother, Joanne Bloodgood of Ankeny; and her siblings, Jerry (Linda) Smith of Janesville, Iowa, Larry (Jodi) Smith of Eden Prairie, MN, Nancy (Curtis) Zeisneiss of Colo, and Brad (Becky) Smith of Belton, MO. She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Gordon in infancy; and her beloved Cocker Spaniel, Kayla.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, August 31, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada, with a time for sharing memories at 4 p.m. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis.

No flowers are requested. Please make memorial contributions to the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames in memory of Barb.
