Bohlen Henry Thye was born January 24, 1945 to Carl W. and Lenore A. (Bohlen) Thye in Burlington, Iowa. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970 and was a member of the Roland American Legion. Bohlen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Farm Operations from Iowa State University. Bohlen and Joy Lou Ann Hermanson were married June 4, 1972 in Garretson, South Dakota. Bohlen and Joy were missionaries with the Navigators in Indonesia from 1976-1984 and have since worked with international students at Iowa State. He worked at Ball Corporation in Ames and American Packaging in Story City, retiring in August of 2012.
Bohlen passed away at 69 years of age on July 29, 2014 at his home in Roland.
Bohlen is survived by his wife, Joy Thye, of Roland; four daughters, Christine Thye, of Omaha, Nebraska, Angela and her husband, Mike Sansone, of Omaha, Michelle Thye, of West Des Moines and Elizabeth and her husband, Kossi Abathan, of West Des Moines; and one sister, Elaine and her husband, Warren Anderson, of Fountain, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lynette Hester; and his brother, Leonard Thye.
