June 30, 1918 - July 25, 2014

Marjorie “Marge” Bly 96, of Ames, passed away July 25, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Salem Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames.

Marge was born June 30, 1918 in Radcliffe, to Peter and Lillie (Ronnold) Bly. Marge and her brother Richard were raised on the family farm near Radcliffe. She received her teaching certificate from the University of Northern Iowa. Marge began her teaching career at a country school near Radcliffe. She also taught 1st and 2nd grade at Conrad, Le Grand, Nevada and Gilbert retiring in 1980. After her retirement Marge lived in Ames with her brother Richard and she continued to take care of kids by babysitting for families in area churches. After suffering a fall in 2005 Marge became a smiling face in the halls of Bethany Manor in Story City.

Marge is fondly remembered by students or she would say “her kids”, that she taught over the years. Some of them attended her 90th birthday celebration. She was an avid sports fan, especially basketball, she also enjoyed bowling and golf.

Marge will be remembered for the many lives she touched over her amazing 96 years.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be addressed to the Ames Animal Shelter
