GEORGE F. CLARK
George F. Clark, 57, 1205 Clark St., Ames, died at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames Thursday, August 16, 1978. Mr. Clark farmed in Story Grant Township for 32 years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19, at 10 a.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel at 28th and Grand avenues in Ames. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. John Moore and Rev. Cecil A. Wells officiating.
Mr. Clark was born March 17, 1921 in Ames to Carl B. and Agnes Clark. He was married June 17, 1945 to Gaynell Gabrielson in Ames.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Gaynell; three sons, George Jr., Bristol, Va., Paul and James of Ames; one daughter, Debrah Humpston, Iowa; two brothers, Carl B. Jr., Ames and Russell, Harrisonville, Mo.; and one grandson, David Clark.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 18, from noon to 9 p.m. Memorials should be sent to the family at their home.
Mr. Clark served in World War II in the Air Force and received the Purple Hear and other service medals of the USAF. He graduated from Ames High School and attended Iowa State University. He was member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 37, and served on the board of education of the North Grant Consolidated School District.
He was also a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society, Second Division, the Liberation Club and the Air Force Escape and Evasion Society.
