FLOYD MINOR GROOMES

Floyd Minor Groomes, 89, of 825 R Ave., Nevada IA, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 1988, at Story County Hospital in Nevada as the result of complications of amputation.

He was born Sept. 15, 1898, in Piatt County, Il. to E.E. Groomes and Josie Clouser.

On Jan. 22, 1919, he was married to Anna L. Baker in Boone IA. She died in January, 1987, he was married to Alma Howard.

Mr. Groomes moved to Boone County in 1915 and to Nevada in 1975. He was a farmer.

He was a member of the Zenorsville Evangelical Church in Boone County.

Visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 11, form 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, 5th St. and Linoln Hwy., Nevada. The family greeted friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Beckman officiating. Interment will be in Nevada Cemetery, Nevada.

Survivors include his wife, Alma (Howard) Groomes of Nevada; a daughter, Lola E. Plotkin of Phoenix AZ; two brothers, Willis Groomes and Marion Groomes; one grandchild and two great grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.E. and Josie Groomes; his first wife, Anna; a daughter, Lois L. Groomes who lived with them 66 years, and a sister, Lois Baker.
