Otis L. Parham 80, of Collins, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at his residence in Collins, Iowa. Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Collins Christian Church in Collins with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Immediately following the service a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall of the Church. Burial will follow the luncheon and graveside services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Nevada, Iowa. The Collins American Legion Post #81 will conduct the graveside military rites.
Otis was born May 20, 1934 in Confidence, Iowa to Charlie and Reta (Brandon) Parham. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1954 and served in Guam. He married Marjorie Hickle on March 6, 1965 in the Collins Christian Church in Collins, Iowa. Otis was self-employed auto mechanic and retired in 1989. After retirement he worked for NPI security and retired from that position in 1991. Otis was a long time Collins resident. Otis was a member of the Freeland-Carver American Legion Post #81.
Surviving Otis is his wife of 49 years Marge of Collins; 2 sons Kenneth of Little Rock, Arkansas and Kirk (Judy) Cheville of Zearing, Iowa; 3 daughters GeorgeAnn Parham of Lynn Wood, Washington, Sharon (Eddy) Sullivan of San Jose, California, and Debra (Richard) Roozen of Vero Beach, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Eugene (Marsha) Parham of Corydon, Iowa; 3 sisters Eldora Blaine of Corydon, Iowa, Esther Edgerton of Corydon, Iowa, and Joyce Ann Abbott of Elgin, Illinois.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Audrey; and 3 brothers Charles, Fred, and Billie.
Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing was entrusted with the care of Otis and his family.
