Virginia Patterson, age 86, of Albany, Missouri, and formerly of Nevada, Iowa, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, with her loving family by her side at her daughter's home in Albany.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Nevada. Pastor David Burling will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

Born April 13, 1928, in Putnam County, Missouri, Virginia Faye Patterson was the oldest daughter of Victor and Hazel (Corbin) Pauley. She grew up and received her education in Missouri and was united in marriage to Merle Dean Patterson on March 4, 1947, in Newton, Iowa. The couple made their home and raised their family in Nevada.
Virginia enjoyed quilting, gardening, and being with her family. She helped raise her grandchildren and also worked at Donnelley's on and off for nearly 25 years.

Survivors include her five children, Harold L. (Christi) Patterson of Yellville, AR, Howard G. (Sherry) Patterson of Ames, Jean Valentine (Bill Stuve) of Ames, Joyce (Darrell) Dunahoo of Albany, MO, and Donna (Mike) Johnson of Aurora, CO; a son-in-law, Don Randall of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Ronald (Mary) Pauley of LaGrange, GA; two sisters, Doris (Earl) Otto of Colo, and Geri Beiderman of Des Moines; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Merle in 2010; a daughter, Kate Randall in 1996; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Johnson; her parents; three sisters, Shirley Ishmael, Iva Oxley, and Violet Corbin; a brother in infancy, Samuel Pauley; a sister-in-law, Bev Patterson; and four brothers-in-law, Ralph Corbin, Robert Oxley, Rick Beiderman, and John Krabacher.

Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Virginia and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Virginia's name may be directed to Hands of Hope Hospice in Stanberry, MO.
