Jesse David Black, son of Samuel Reaugh Black and Pauline Miler Black was born near Roadhouse, Green county, Ill., Feb. 3 1870. He died June 4, 1950, in the Mary Greelev hospital at Ames at the age of 50 years, 11 months and one day.
At the age of 14 he moved with is parents to Girard, Kan., and from there the family moved to Missouri. In 1894 they returned to Illinois and settled near Ogden, and Mr. Black began farming. On Oct. 5, 1899, he was married to Miss Minnie B. Holmes at Ogden. Ill., and in 1903 they moved to Hamilton county, Ia., where they lived for a year. They then moved to Lohrville, Ia., where they remained for 23 years. Here the family were charter members of the Rinard Methodist church. In 1927 the family moved to Story county, where he lived until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie two sons, Emory of Nevada and Lawrence of Lohrville: two daughters, Mrs. Esther Johnson of Nevada and Mrs. Harold Simmers of Burlington; seven grandsons, two granddaughters, two great grandsons and a brother.
...will serve F. A. Smith officiating. Mrs. Lowenbcrg sang "Face to Face" and "This Lord's Prayer", accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Norman C. Dobson. Flowers were arranged by Mrs. Elmer C. Wendel, assisted by Mrs. Ryan. Many offerings for missions were also given in memory of the deceased.
Pallbearers were Darwin Black, Dennis Black, the Floyd Black, Loy Black, Mark Johnson and Clayton Clifford. Burial was in the Cedar cemetery near Rinard and was in charge of Rev. Cor with Taylor of the Lohrville Methodist church.
