OBITUARY
MCCALLSBURG - Funeral services for Otis Tvedt were held on Saturday at the Erickson Funeral Home in Roland followed by services in the Bergen Lutheran church there. His pastor, the Rev. Allen E. Nelson, was in charge.
Otto Hanson sang "My Faith Looks Up to Three" at the home and "Sleep Thy Last Sleep" in the church. Chester Pearson of Radcliff sang "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me."
Burial was made in the Story City cemetery by the side of his brother, John, who died in 1951.
Otis O. Tvedt was born to Ole K. and Johanna T. Tvedt at their home near Garden City in 1892. He passed away in the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines on Feb. 3 of a heart condition at the age of 61 years.
He attended the country school near his home and the Luther Academy in Albert Lea, Minn.
He was baptized and confirmed in the East Bergen church and was a lifelong member of this church. He was engaged in farming in this community all his life.
In 1918 he was called into the service of his country, part of which he spent in France and returned home in June, 1919.
He was a past commander of the Samuel Reid Post No. 334 of the American Legion of McCallsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers. He is survived by two brothers, Clarence of Story City and Rexford of Radcliffe, and three sisters, Elva of Radcliffe, Belle of Story City and Amy (Mrs. Elwood Ose) of McCallsburg.
He is also survived by one nephew and four nieces.
