Gordon W. Thomas
Oct. 4, 1916 to Sept. 7, 1990Gordon Wendell Thomas, 73, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died of an aneurysm Sept. 7 at Veterans Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born Oct. 4, 1916, in Clarion to Denzil L. and Hildred Thomas and married Dorothy Nock on Des. 21, 1941. He lived in Nevada for 23 years, was co-owner of Jackson Construction and comptroller for Wilson Trucking in Ames and Des Moines. He had lived in Arizona for a year. He also served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II and was a former member of the Indian Creek Country Club in Nevada.
Survivors include his wife; one son, James of Nevada; one daughter, Pamela Draper of West Des Moines; one brother, Roger of Sioux City; and three sisters, Phyllis Stewart of Clarion, Elner Pehl of Austin, Minn. and Deloris Scott of Nevada.
Visitation was held Sept. 12 at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada. Services will be held Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada with Father John Herzog officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
