Elizabeth Carmene Scudder
May 2, 1919 to April 22, 2001

Pat Scudder died April 22, in Naples, Fla., after a fall.

She was born Elizabeth Carmene Patton on May 2, 1919, and married Henry Huston Scudder on May 29, 1943. They moved to Nevada in 1949, and were the owners of Scudder's Department Store, until their retirement to Naples in 1985.

She believed in her community and was active in Nevada, until her retirement, in P.E.O., the Central Presbyterian Church, Nevada Women's Club, Nevada Brownies and Girl Scouts, Nevada Library Board, and many other civic organizations. She was an active member of the State Republican Central Committee and the President of Iowa Republican Workshop, and a member of The League of Women Voters, as well as the local political scene. She was active in the Red Cross at the Nevada Hospital, as well as one of the organizers for local support for the patrons of the nursing home. She loved bridge and gave many lessons, as well as beginning duplicate bridge in Nevada.

Survivors include two daughters, Francy (and Paul) Henderson, of Windsor, Colo., and Betsy (and Bruno) Penzo of Naples, Fla.; her sister Frani (and Robert) Harvey of Reno, Nev.; six grandchildren; and five great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and daughter, Darcy.

There was a gathering of friends in Naples on April 26. There will be a memorial service for Pat on Saturday, June 9, at 10:00 a.m. at the Nevada Presbyterian Church. Memorials are designated for Youth and Shelter Services of Nevada and Ames.
