Rites set for John Berrett

John Berrett 82, of 109 Ninth St. died Thursday afternoon at Mary Greeley Hospital.

Born in England in 1882, Mr. Berrett moved to Pontiac, Ill. in 1906, to Story County in 1913 and to Ames in 1943.

He was a farmer in Story County, and was employed with Walnut Grove Feed Co. from 1938 until his retirement in 1963.

He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Mr. Berrett is survived by his wife, Elle; a son, John L., Kelley; three daughters; Mrs. Elden Bauge, 1222 Clark Ave., Mrs. Pauline Stensland of Cambridge and Mrs. Rene Hockman, Jewell; a sister, Mrs. Tom Smith of Cornwall, England; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Harry and Robert.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday from the Evangelical United Brethren Church, with the Rev. E.E. Peters officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Adams Funeral Home.
