Earl William Stevenson, son of William A. and Bertha Menzel Stevenson, was born in McCallsburg, Iowa on August 4, 1922. He was the second in a family of three children, having an older sister, Vera, and a younger brother, Richard.

The Stevenson family moved from McCallsburg to their farm home near Nevada when Earl was less than one year old, having known bur the one home, Earl found much happiness in the ties that bound him to his home and the members of his family.

He attended the Milford Consolidated school, and had illness not intervened, he should have been a member of the class completing the eighth grade at the close of the current year. As a student, he enjoyed especially working with the m--- and his home shows --dences of his handicr-- also a member of the ------ Hustlers 4-H club -------------- project with dairy ---------- farm life and -------- satisfaction in helping ---------sary things ----was a faithful ---------- often wanting --------- were beyond his -----.

Serious illness at the --------- years left him with a heart weakness that he never overcame. This weakness made it impossible for him to overcome the illness that settled upon him last October and resulted in his death on May 24, 1938. During his long illness, he was constantly under the doctor's care and a was carefully and lovingly nursed by his mother and other members of the family. In spite of all that could be done, he failed to gain in strength and peacefully passed from this life at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24. During the closing days of his illness he was taken to the Iowa sanitarium for special treatment and while there found it in his heart to express in prayer his gratitude for the kindness of all who waited on him.

Having become a member of Central Presbyterian church, together with his father and mother and elder sister, while yet a young lad, Earl endeavored to live a sincere Christian life. he loved to attend Sunday school and common worship and he was active in the work of the junior choir. During his long illness he made no complaint and found courage and much satisfaction in his Christian faith.

Earl had many friends. He was the kind of lad who had no misunderstandings, and all who know him were his friends. he will be greatly missed by his friends, his school associates, his church and his home. He is survived by all the other members of this family of which he had been a loved and loyal member.
