Maxine Gertrude Briggs was born March 2, 1908 at Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of William Henry and Bertha Ann White Nicola. Maxine was a graduate of the Oak Park Academy of Nevada and on August 26, 1935 she was united in marriage to Royal M. Briggs at Olathe, Kansas.

Maxine was employed with Equitable Life Insurance Company in Ames and then with Donnelley Printing Company in Nevada before moving to Iowa Falls in 1953. Maxine was a member of the Nevada Chapter No. 296 at the Eastern Star of which she received her 50 year pin 1988, and also a past member of the Ellsworth Municipal Auxiliary.

Maxine died last Tuesday, September 19, [1989], at the age of eighty-one years. She is survived by two sons Richard M. and wife, Janet of Grundy Center and Barry and wife, Pam of Jewell. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Ryan and Anthony Briggs and Sonya, Rodney and Rodger Briggs. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Royal, two brothers, Ralph and Chattie, and two sisters: Loretta Mae and Mattie.
