Edith Irene Hobson was born at Nevada, Iowa on February 25, 1890 to Willard Henry and Ida Lockwood Boynton, and passed away at Maxwell, Iowa on October 30, 1963 at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 5 days. She was reared in nevada and attended the public schools graduating with the class of 1909. After graduation she taught for short time in the rural schools of Story County, and then took a position as bookkeeper and cashier in the Ambrose & Sons Store in Nevada, which position she held for about twenty years. She then attended a business school and upon completion of the course became an Abstractor in the office of Story County Loan & Abstract Company of Nevada, there she worked for several years.

On March 14, 1936 she was married to Manford C. Hobson at Marshalltown, Iowa and they made their home on farms in the Ashton and Collins communities. In the Fall of 1959 they retired fro the farm and moved to Maxwell, where Mr. Hobson passed away on November 8, 1959.

Mrs. Hobson attended the Methodist Church and was an active ember of the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was also a member of the Literary and Social Club of Maxwell and was serving as Secretary and Treasurer at the time of her death.

Edith Hobson was preceded in death by her husband, Manfrod C. Hobson, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Boynton and two sisters, Mrs. Pearl McKearney and Mrs. Ruth Hunt.

She is survived by one brother, Willard H. Boynton of Berkeley, CA, and three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Koehrsen of Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. Bernice M. Smith of Los Angeles, CA and Mrs. Hazel Hall of Nevada. She is also survived by two step-sons, Clarence Hobson of Nevada and Arthur Hobson of Zearing, Four step-daughters, Mrs. Emma Kemmerer and Mrs. Ruby Otto, both of Nevada, and Mrs. Rosella Crum and Mrs. Ida Euron, both of Albion, Iowa; also by six nephews and six nieces and other relatives.
