Wayne Boten
June 24, 1918 to April 13, 2005

NEVADA - Wayne Boten, 86, of Nevada, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the Israel Family Hospice House at Ames.

He was born June 24, 1918 in Maxwell, Iowa the son of Alfred and Minnie (Wallen) Boten. Wayne was married in 1943 to Linda Dacey, they later divorced. He later married Virginia Hankins in 1972 in Nevada, Iowa. Wayne had worked at the Nevada Post Office before retiring in 1983. Wayne served in the Navy during WWII. He was a member of the First Christian of Nevada and the Nevada VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Nevada; 2 sons: Wayne Boten, Jr. of Nevada, William Boten of Nevada; 1 daughter: Donna L. Karns of Great Falls, Montana; 3 step-daughters: Pagene Crawford of Nevada, Ragene Van Vleet of Des Moines, Dinelda Brouhard of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Max Boten of Denver, Colorado; and a sister Ruth Boten Millslagle of Creston, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers Hank and Myron; and 3 sisters: Margaret, Opal and Frances.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Brice Hughes officiating.

The Nevada VFW will give military honors.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
