Robert Duane Thompson
Feb. 26, 1928 to May 17, 2004

Robert Duane Thompson, 76 of Nevada died from a lengthy illness on Monday, May 17 at Rolling Green Village where he had been a resident for the past 2 years. Funeral services were held today, Thursday, May 20, at 1:30 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Steven Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Robert was born on February 26, 1928 in Webster City to Frank Alexander and Ltela Lourie (Stapp) Thompson. He married Dorothy Maxine Whitake on September 10, 1948 at the EUB Church in Nevada. He farmed until retiring in 1991. Collecting farm antiques became his next passion that he thoroughly enjoyed. Robert had belonged to The Cast Iron Seat Collectors Club and won several awards. He also faithfully subscribed to the Collector's Journal, searching for those elusive auction treasures for his collection.

Robert is survived by 3 daughters, Carol A. (Cary) White of Des Moines, Marla (Stephen) Fulkerson of Prior Lake, Minnesota, and Jolene (Dean) Tjelmeland of Nevada; 7 grandchildren, Aaron White, Alan White, Caren White, Heidi Wintheiser, Holly Fulkerson, Denise Tjelmeland, and Lucas Tjelmeland; 2 great grandchildren, Austin Jay Wintheiser and Shawn Thomas Kes; and 1 sister, Darlene Walters of New Providence, Iowa.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy on June 21, 1982, 1 brother, Lowell Eugene Thompson and 1 nephew Robert Eugene Thompson.

A memorial funds has been established.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.
