MILDRED K. McCONNELL

Mildred K. McConnell, 79, of Grundy Center IA, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1987, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo IA of heart failure.

She was born Dec. 3, 1908, to Frank H. Kinsman and Tina Anna Nelson.

She was married to Lyle J. McConnell Oct. 10, 1928, at Nevada IA.

She was a lifelong Nevada resident. She moved to live with her daughter Meredith two years ago.

Mrs. McConnell was a legal secretary who retired from Iowa State University in 1972. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Nevada, taught the Sunday school class Two Win Others for 40 years. She was awarded "A Friend of Education" by the Nevada School Board. She belonged to a number of other civic organizations.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Nevada Christian Church with Roy Sanders and Calvin Vanderwerf officiating.

Survivors include three sons, Terry McConnell of Nevada, Max McConnell of Kent WA and Frank McConnell of Thousand Oaks CA; two daughters, Meredith Hitchings of Grundy Center and Lori Beth Berry of Canton MO; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Tina; her husband, Lyle John McConnell; a brother, Kenneth Kinsman, and a sister, Evelyn Telfer.

Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, 5th St. and Lincoln Highway, Nevada, is in charge of arrangements.
