Last Rites for Ernest L. Hein Monday Afternoon

Funeral services for Ernest L. Hein were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. C. E. Lookingbill officiating. Mrs. L. E. Smith sang "No Night There" and "Ivory Palaces," accompanied by Mrs. Norman Dobson at the organ.

The pall bearers were John Brady, John Adams, Frank Mittlestadt, Harrison Brodway, Arhtur Perrin and Joe Haire.

Burial was made in the Nevada cemetery.

The following obituary was read at the funeral services:

"Ernest L. Hein, retired farmer, passed away at 3 a.m. on April 5, at the University hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient the past seven weeks.

"He was born in Germany, February 20, 1868, and came to this country at the age of 19 years. He passed away April 5, 1946, at the age of 78 years, two months and 15 days.

"He was married in Eldora March 30, 1891, to Miss Ida Mielke and they lived on a farm south west of Hubbard for 26 years. In 1917 they moved to Minnesota where they lived for 14 years. In 1931 they returned to Iowa and settled on a farm near Cambridge where they made their home until five years ago when they moved into Cambridge.

"Surviving are the wife, one son, Carl Hein of Cambridge; two daughters, Mrs. Rose Lehmeier of Bellflower, California, and Mrs. Anna Gile of Kasson, Minnesota. he is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Bertha Riska of Iowa Falls; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, also a number of nephews and nieces. Preceding in death were his parents, one daughter, three brothers, one sister and a daughter-in-law.
