Death Last Night of Mrs. McCollom at Daughter's Home
Colo, Aug. 1--Mrs. Ida McCollom, 87, former resident of 415 J avenue, Nevada passed away Thursday night at 11:10 p. m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hattie Binder, in Colo where she had been since May 3, 1946 following hospitalization at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown because of a fractured hip.
Funeral services will be held from the daughter's home in Colo Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. Alfred Schneck officiating. Burial will be made in Nevada cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Ryan Funeral Home until Saturday afternoon when the remains will be taken to Mrs. Binder's home in Colo.
Mrs. McCollom ws born April 16, 1860 in Ogle county, Ill. She was married to Frank McCollom, March 4, 1879, at Polo, Ill. Mr. McCollom passed away in 1920.
Mrs. McCollom is survived by two sons, Wallace McCollom of Kerrville, Texas and Forrest McCollom of Colo and one daughter Mrs. Hattie Binder of Colo. She is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Besides the husband, she was preceded in death by her son Robert McCollom who passed away April 16, 1947, and six sisters.
Mrs. McCollom was the last surviving member of a family of seven girls. She came to Story county in 1862 and had lived here continuously since that time.
On January 20, 1946 she suffered a fall at her home in Nevada, and was taken to the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown where she remained until being brought to the home of her daughter in Colo, May 1, 1946, where she remained until her passing.
