Maxine Baumgardner
July 31, 1917 to March 27, 2003

Maxine Baumgardner, 85, of Urbandale and formerly of Nevada, died Thursday, March 27, at Kavanaugh House on Grand in West Des Moines.

She was born July 31, 1917, in Nevada to Emmet B. and Nellie (Taylor) Ayers. She grew up in the Nevada area, graduating from Nevada High School in 1934. She then worked for R. H. Donnelley. On June 23, 1940, she married Lyle E. Baumgardner in Nevada. They owned Lyle's Clothing in Nevada for more than 40 years. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada. She has resided at Senior Suites in Urbandale for the past seven years.

Survivors include her son, Dennis Baumgardner of Urbandale; two granddaughters; a great grandson; and a sister-in-law, Sina Hall of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lyle in 1990; two brothers, Willard and Raymond Ayers; and a sister Lois Reed.

Memorial services were held Monday, March 31, at Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada. Burial was in the Nevda Municipal Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa at Kavanagh House on Grand in West Des Moines. Funeral arrangements were handled by Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada.
