Mrs. Stella O. Ambrose, 733 K Avenue, age 76, died today at the Story County Hospital at 12:45 a.m. where she had been a patient for the past ten days.
Mrs. Ambrose was born October 20, 1887 at Sauk Center, Minn., the daughter of Lydia and Edward Glover. She had lived in Nevada for the past 56 years. She was a teacher of music before her marriage to Harry G. Ambrose, June 25, 1908 in Jefferson, Iowa.
Mrs. Ambrose was a member of the Nevada Methodist Church, where she directed the choir for several years. She was a member of the Chapter AM P.E.O., National American Pen Women and the Bide-A-Wee Club.
Survivors include one son, Glover of Nevada, two daughters, Mrs. Jerrold (Shirley) Hammond of Charlottesville, Va., Mrs. Kenneth (Harriette) Kinsey of Nevada, five grandchildren; Hobbie Ann, Paul and Terrell Hammond, Mark and Craig Ambrose and Bryce Kinsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two children in fancy and by her husband, Harry Ambrose, in 1958.
Mrs. Ambrose's great love for children inspired her through the years to write many children's songs and poetry about every day life. Many of her writings have been published bringing pleasure to herself and a great pride to her family.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ambrose will be held at the Methodist Church Monday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Dendler and Dr. Raymond M. Shipman officiating.
