Joseph William Finnegan, Sr.
Feb. 13, 1913 to Jan. 24, 1998Joseph William Finnegan, Sr., 84, of Panama City, Fla. died Saturday, Jan. 24, at Gulf Coast Convalescent Home in Panama City of Sepsis infection.
He was born Feb. 13, 1913 in Waterloo to Joseph Patrick and Helen (Tabbert) Finnegan.
He married Fern (Burnett) Jay on July 14, 1960. Hew as a retired welder and was 37-year resident of Panama City, moving there from Iowa.
Survivors include a son, Joseph W. Finnegan, Jr., of Panama City, Fla.; three daughters, Patricia Wray of Cedar Rapids, Delores Craig of Trappe, Md., and Sandra A. Long of Panama City Beach, Fla.; two step son, Dwayne Jay of Colo and Jerry Jay of Henry, Ill.; a step-daughter, Gayle Etheridge of Carlisle; a sister, Ruth Cox of King, N. C.; 10 grandchildren; six grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; seven step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Fern on April 18, 1996; and a sister, Marie Collins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at 10:30 a.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada with Father John Herzog of St. Patrick's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be held in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund had been established for the Homeward Hospice of Ames.
