Fern Elizabeth Finnegan
March 4, 1914 to April 18, 1996Fern Elizabeth Finnegan, 82, of Panama City, Fla., died from complications of surgery on Thursday, April 18, in Panama City Hospital, Panama City, Fla.
She was born to Robert and Greta (Huddleston) Burnett on March 4, 1914, in Nevada.
Sh was a longtime resident of Story County and worked as a checkout clerk for Nevada Fareway for a number of years. On July 14, 1960, she married Joseph W. Finnegan.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Duane Jay of Colo and Jerry Jay of Henry, Ill.; a daughter, Gayle Etheridge of Carlisle; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one step-son, Joseph Finnegan, Jr., of Panama City, Fla; three step-daughters, Patricia Wray of Cedar Rapids, Delori Craig of Trappe, Md., and Sandi Long of Columbus, Ind.; 10 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great grandchild; three brothers, Robert, George and Howard Burnett, all of Nevada; and two sisters, Dorothy Matheason of Story City and Florence Clayberg of Nevada.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 23, at Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, with Dr. Fred Danforth officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
