George R. Post passed away at 8 a.m. December 24, 1954 at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 11 days. he was the sixth child of Everett and Eliza Morrell Post, longtime residents of Nevada. George was born in Beagle County, South Dakota in 1888 and when yet an infant the family moved to Dixon, Illinois. In 1902 this family bought a farm near Nevada which they operated for a while. Through another investment, they secured a farm in Pocahontas County and lived there for sometime, but Nevada seemed to be the locality most suited to their liking. They returned here and established their home.

Later the oldest twin brothers, Claude and Clare came here and conducted a buggy and wagon business which was very shortly to become one of the first automobile garages in Nevada. George worked for his brothers for a while and soon became a partner in the new automobile business. This venture grew into a fine thriving business and their garage was known for miles around for their expert mechanical work. The garage was disposed of in 1917 and George became a farmer.

On April 3, 1918 he was united in marriage to Nina Norris and in this union the one daughter, Eva L., was born. This family continued their farming interests for several years in Story County and five years in Cerro Gordo County. Later he was employed by the County as a road builder and also spent some time working for the City of Nevada in the Water Department. His last position was with Graphic Forms and about 5 years ago, due to poor health, he was forced to give up his work and had been in declining health until his death, Friday morning. In spite of his poor health, he was never too ill to call upon a sick friend or do an errand for them.

As a very young man he became a member of the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department and retained his membership until the old gang was disbanded and new and younger members took over. He is survived by his wife, Nina and his daughter, Eva, two brothers, Claude and Clare of Nevada and two sisters, Nelle Durby of Pasadena, California, and Bess Post of Santa Monica, California. The deceased was preceded in death by the Father, Mother, Sister Maude Maude Forsythe of Plover, Brother Roy of Cedar Falls and youngest Sister, Jen Post of California. There are also many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
