Funeral Services for Mrs. Chas. Chaffin Sunday Afternoon

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Chaffin, who died Thursday at the University hospital at Iowa City, were held Sunday afternoon at the Nevada Evangelical church, which was filled to capacity by relatives and friends of the deceased and her family.

The sermon was preached by the pastor Rev. J. D. Kloos and the sons were by Mrs. Harry Lough and Mrs. Kenneth Rapp with Mrs. Basil Grimes at the piano. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery.

Mrs. Lulu Booher Chaffin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Dick Booher early pioneers of this community was born Sept 20 1875 in Story county Iowa and passed away out of this life Oct. 15, 1936 at the age of 61 years and 25 days.

She was educated in the Nevada schools and grew to womanhood here. March 1, 1899 she was united in married to Mr. Chas. J. Chaffin of Story county. For many years they resided on the Samuel Booher farm 5 miles south of Nevada and it was here where the five children were born and grew up. About 10 years ago the family moved to Nevada madkng this their home. Early in life she sought the Lord as a Saviour and friend and under ministry of Rev. M. C. McKinley became a member of the Summit Evangelical church, later transferring her membership to the Nevada Evangelical church. Mrs. Chaffin was known as a five upstanding Christian woman. She had many friends and her quiet disposition won her many friends. She was a faithful member of our Women's Missionary Society.

She leaves to mourn her stricken husband, two sons and three daughters: Eva L., Mrs. E. H. Myers of Olin, Ia.; Claude P. and Ralph S. of Akron, Ohio, Bessie and Vera F. of Nevada; also, two brothers Claire Booher of Santa Ana and Clyde Booher of San Dieo, Calif., also a stepmother, Mrs. Mary Booher of Santa Ana, Calif., and 5 grandchildren.
