Jesse R. Stone
Feb. 8, 1905 to Oct. 20, 1997Jesse R. Stone, 92, of LaCresenta, Calif., died of a heart attack on Oct. 20 at Verdugo Hills Hospital in Montrose, Calif.
He was born Feb. 8, 105, in Maxwell to Lafayette Walker Stone and Edith Wood.
On Sept. 18, 1926, he married Mary Lavina Child in Nevada. He and his wife celebrated 70 years of marriage in 1996. In 1926, he also moved from Nevada to Glendale, Calif., where he lived for 70 years. He was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad in Los Angeles, retiring in 1960. He loved sports and was a baseball fan. He was also a avid bride player and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of LaCrescenta, Calif.; two nephews, Harry Cook of Nevada and Edward Stone of Raleigh, N.C.; a nephew-in-law, Donald McLaren of Palm Springs, Calif.; and a niece, Marion Tsakiroglou of St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Harve; and one sister, Mrs. Lee Cook.
A private burial was held at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
