W.F. Smith Rites Held at Nevada
NEVADA -- Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon at the Morfoot funeral home of W. F. Smith, 79, who died at his home here Saturday night. Rev. Joseph M. Kennedy of Central Presbyterian church was in charge of services. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
For the past 30 years Mr. Smith had lived most of the time in Nevada. He was born at Edgerton, O., July 20, 1858. His father was killed in action when the boy was four years old. After teaching school for several years Mr. Smith became a telegraph operator and continued this work until 1931, for three railroad companies the Great Northern, the Milwaukee and the North Western. He worked for the latter company for 23 years.
Surviving Mr. Smith are his wife, Nellie Moores Smith, and five children, Mrs. Bert Lough of Nevada; Bernard O. Smith of Bemidji, Minn.; Mrs. Emil Nelson of Putney, S. D.; Charles W. Smith of Nevada; and Mrs. Earl H. Wilber of Bemidji, Minn. he also leaves a sister, Mrs. James Houser of Los Angeles, Cal. and nine grandchildren.
