Nevada man died Monday

LaVerne Brooks, 45, of rural Nevada, died Monday night at the Story County Hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada with the Rev. Frank Hladky officiating.

Born in Story County, Brooks had been a farmer in the Nevada area for a number of years.

Survivors include his wife, Dorris; two daughters, Mrs. Steven Pierce of Nevada and Carol at home, three sons, Dennis and David, both students at the State University of Iowa in Iowa City and Clint at home. He is also survived by three brothers, Lester, Virgil and Mervin all of Nevada, and three sisters, Mrs. Genny Myland of Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Virginia Jacobson, Nevada, and Mrs. Isabell Hillis of Story City.
