HAROLD (PETE) HANDSAKER

Harold (Pete) Handsaker, 80, of 1142 South I Ave., Nevada IA, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1986, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames IA.

Death was due to cancer. he had been ill 15 months.

He was born Jan. 4, 1906, at Fernald IA to Greeley and Emma (Cook) Handsaker, and was a lifelong resident of this area.

Mr. Handsaker was married to Irene Proctor Dec. 24, 1926, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fernald.

Survivors include his wife, Irene; two sons, Dean and Dale of Nevada; six grandsons, Gary, Rob, Craig, Paul, Mark and Dave Handsaker, and a great granddaughter, Misty Handsaker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one grandson.

Mr. Handsaker farmed in the Fernald community until his retirement. He belonged to Memorial Lutheran Church of Nevada, Masonic Lodge No. 99, Golden K Kiwanis, and was a past Fernald School board member.

He wintered in Arizona 26 years.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 20, 1966 at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor Don Rothweiler officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday evening form 6 to 8 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 5th St. and G Ave., Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established.
