Lauretta Beryl Eberhart Thompson, 89, of Ames, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Heartland Baptist Church, with burial in Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stevens Memorial Chapel.

Lauretta married Tilford Thompson on July 26, 1952, in Des Moines. She worked in food service at Iowa State University and retired in 1991. She was a longtime member of Heartland Baptist Church and enjoyed working with the children’s ministry.

She is survived by one son, Dennis, of Des Moines; four granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Jack Eberhart, of Des Moines; and Jack (Irene) Small, and their children, Heather and Corey, who Lauretta thought of as family.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Pamela; and one granddaughter, Amy Thompson.

As a show of sympathy, memorial contributions should be directed to the Heartland Baptist Church children’s ministry program.
