Chester Lowell "Chet" Gifford (1884-1962)

C. L. "Chet" Gifford was born Aug. 5, 1884 in Polk County, the son of George and Susan Snyder Gifford. He died Nov. 3, at 9:55 a. m. at the Story County Hospital, where he had been a patient for two weeks.

H was married June 4, 1908 to Edna Graham. They resided in Story County for fifty years.

They were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary with an open house celebration June 1, 1956, which was attended by a large crowd of friends and relatives.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; one daughter, Celeste, Mrs. Richard Williams of Bondurant; six grandchildren, Stephen Nancy, Michael, Mary Lynn, Carol and David Williams; two brothers, Howard, Creswell, Ore. and Alvey of Colfax; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Geddes of Rhodes and Mrs. Susan Dunlap of Maxwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.

Funeral Services

Funeral services for Chester Lowell Gifford were held Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 2 p. m. in the Central Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Frank Hladky officiating.

Mrs. Lowell Johnson, organist, provided music for the service.

Caring for the many floral offerings were Mrs. Lulu New and Mrs. Vivian Riddlesbarger.

W. E. Horine was in charge of the Masonic graveside services conducted by the Nevad Masonic Lodge, 99 A.F. & A.M.
