Jeanette Post Getting
April 14, 1918 to June 13, 2001

Jeanette Post Getting, 82, of Arlington Heights, Ill., died of cancer on Wednesday, June 13, at her home in Arlington Heights.

She was born April 14, 1918, in Nevada to Claude J. and Georgia L. (Stahlman) Post. She was a 1936 graduate of Nevada High School and graduated from Commercial College in Des Moines. She married Edwin Lawrence Getting on Nov. 10, 1943, in Washington, D.C. She was a real estate agent in Arlington Heights, Ill., during the '80's and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights, Arlington Heights Women's Club and the Friday Book Review Club. She enjoyed watching the New York Stock Exchange and had been a resident of Illinois for many years.

Survivors include a son, Lorrence Post Getting of Queen Creek, Ariz., a daughter, Pamela J. Getting of Mishawaka, Ind., two sisters, Zelma Huff of Nevada and Arline Lyons of Mesa, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edwin, on Aug. 1, 1987, a daughter Janice E. Getting on Jan. 21, 1958; a brother, William Post; and a sister, Joan Lehman DeBruyn.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, June 20, at Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada with Pastor Larry Mitchell officiating. Private family burial of the cremains will be held in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Children's Research Foundation, P. O. Box 87, Western Springs, Ill 60558 or LaRabida Children's Hospital E 65st St. at Lake Michigan in Chicago, Ill 60649. Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada handled arrangements.
