Jennie Mae Lyon, 94, of Nevada, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014, at her sons home in Nevada.

Jennie was born January 1, 1920, to Wilburn and Lucy (Evans) Hackworth. On August 23, 1940, she was united in marriage to Harold Lyon in Des Moines. Jennie was a member of the Colo United Methodist Church, BF&T Club and the Gideons. She had worked as a seamstress and at Donnelly Marketing in Nevada. Jennie was involved as a farm wife and enjoyed sewing, cooking and being with her family.

Jennie is survived by her sons, Dale (Pat) Lyon of Shakopee, MN, and Mark (Reta) Lyon of Nevada; her daughter, Carolyn (Pat) Haws of Ankeny; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; great-granddaughter, Isabelle Lyon; six brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at the Colo United Methodist Church with Pastor Lewis Flanigan officiating. Burial will follow in the Colo Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Colo United Methodist Church, for the kitchen remodel in loving memory of Jennie.
