Mabel Callison
May 1, 1896 to Aug. 25, 1993

Mabel Speas Callison, 97, of Nevada died of heart failure at her residence at the Story County Long Term Care Facility, Nevada.

She was born in Ferguson to William and Minnie (Smith) Speas. She married Robert Isaac (Ike) Callison on Dec. 24, 1913, in Ferguson. She lived in Nevada since 1935, having lived in Liscomb and Laurel. With her husband, she owned and operated several grocery stores in Nevada. She was a member of the Nevada Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include one son, Carrol Callison of Plainfield; three daughters, Imogene Cawley of San Bernardino, Calif., Ruth Bridges of Waverly, and Dorothy Myers of Boone; two sisters, Helen Murray of Cameron, Mo., and Maxine Sommerlot of Marshalltown; 13 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1962, two brothers, one sister, one daughter, one great grandson and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Nevada Assembly of God Church with Pastor Thomas Poppe officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Nevada Assembly of God Church. Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, handled arrangements.
