Last Rites Friday For Mark Hagensick Former Nevada Man

Last rites were conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon for Mark A. Hagensick from teh Methodist church with the Rev. E. P. Windman officiating.

The unusually lark profusion of flowers were arranged by Mr. Glen Newton, Mrs. Herbert Shearman, Mrs. P. M. Mathison and Mrs. R. Fred Nelson. Mrs. Lowenberg sang "Beyond the Sunset", accompanied by Mrs. Norman Dobson.

Masonic services were held at the grave in the Nevada cemetery conducted by C. E. Pickruhn of Adelphic Lodge, No. 509 of Des Moines.

Casket bearers were W. M. Coover, J. J. Donnellan, Harold Fawcett, Clayton Hansen, Richard Irish, and John H. Snowgren.

Honorary casket bearers were William Baird, Roscoe Bane, Wayne Hildreth, Carl Irish, Otto R. Newton, P. K. Mathison, Glen R. Newton, Orson Shaffer, Herbert Shearman and Clifford Sween.

Mr. Hagensick died at Marshalltown, Nov. 28.

Obituary

Mark A. Hagensick was born at Elkader, iowa, June 22, 1887, the son of Charle Hagensick and Hatte Lebrock Hagensick. He had his early education in Elkader. As a young lad, just out of school, he was employed in the offices of the Milwaukee Railroad Company and worked in the State of Michigan and Des Moines, Iowa for several years. He entered into the produce business with the Schermerhorn Shotwell Company, wholesalers of poultry, eggs and butter, as Secretary. While still a young man, he organized and became the first secretary of the first carlot shippers of poultry and effs in the State of Iowa. During this time, he was also elected president of the National poultry, butter and egg dealers association.

In 1929, he came to Nevada, Iowa, where he became office manager of the Nevada Poultry Company, for whom he worked for 16 years. In 1945, Mr. Hagensick moved to Marshalltown, where he became affiliated with the Central Iowa poultry and egg company and was associated with them until his sudden death Tuesday afternoon, November 28, 1950.

Mr. Hagenstick was a member of th Congregational Church in Elkader, Iowa. He was also a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Temple of the Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters, the Consistery and Adelphic Lodge of Masons. He was past exalted ruler of the Des Moines Elks Lodge.

On June 29, 1940, he was united in marriage to Maude Garret, who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Katherine, Mrs. Gordon Gammack, of Des Moines and Margaret Ann, Mrs. John Siegrist of Englewood, New Jersy, three brothers, Dewey of Ennis, Texas, Elton and Byron of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
