Jan. 23, 1949, to March 10, 2004

Rhodes H. "Hap" Scherer, 55, of Nevada died of a massive heart attack on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Story County Medical Center in Nevada, Iowa. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 10 A.M. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. The body was cremated following services.

Rhodes Hamilton "Hap" Scherer was born on January 23, 1949 in Washington, D.C. to Rhodes K. and Alice (Hunter) Scherer. Rhodes moved to Nevada in 1963. He was Store Manager of Arnold's Motor Supply in Nevada. He enjoyed race car driving, vintage car restoration and music.

Rhodes is survived by: his father, Rhodes K. Scherer of Nevada; six daughters, Bonnie (Carl) Jesse of Elk City, Kansas; Raelene Aleman (Scott) Chance, of Nevada, Iowa; Robin (Lance) Willig, of Dewey, Oklahoma; Jennifer Alford and Rena Scherer
both of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Nicki (Scott) Tiedt of Arlington, Texas; one son, Jimmy Scherer of Nevada, Iowa; one stepson, Eric Davis of Pilot Mound, Iowa; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and an infant son, Edward Scherer.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service with the family present at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 5th Street, Nevada, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established. Arrangements were entrusted to Chet Ryan Mortuary.
