Saturday Services For Mrs. Martha A. Fisher

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha A. Fisher, were held from the Ryan Funeral home Saturday afternoon, Oct. 28 at 2 o'clock with the Rev. A. T. Washington in charge.

"Abide With Me" and "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer" were sung by Mrs. A. T. Washington and Mr. Lloyd Shickell, accompanied at the piano by Miss Beeula Settle.

The flowers were arranged by Mrs. Harry Pryor and Mrs. Sivrie Kinsey. Casket bearers were Galen Mann, Orman Pence, Eddie Harrell, Pete Wright, Howard Beal and Elmer Prescott. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Obituary

Martha Ann Poole, daughter of Elza and Nancy Poole, was born in 1879 at Leon, on January 13.

On September 4, 1898 she was united in marriage to William Thomas Fisher at Humansville, Mo. Shortly after the wedding the moved to Nevada where they were engaged in farming in the Nevada-Ames vicinity for several years.

To this union were born three children, two daughters; Sylvia, who preceded her in death at the age of six years; and Opal (Mrs. Pete Ferden of Nevada); also a son, Roy Fisher of Marshalltown.

Her husband, four brothers and a daughter preceded her in death.

Stayed With Daughter

Mrs. William Fisher has made her home with her daughter, Opal, the past ten years. The last few months she has been cared for at the Mrs. Gilmore nursing home where she passed away October 26, 1950, at 12:25 p. m. She was 71 years, nine months and 13 days old.

She leaves to mourn her death a daughter, Mrs. Peter Ferden of Nevada; a son, Mr. Roy Fisher of Marshalltown; a brother, E. L. Poole of Clinton; a granddaughter, Mrs. Donald Martin of Colo; one grandson, William Fisher of Marshalltown; a great granddaughter, Mary Jo Martin of Colo and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the evangelical U. B. church of Nevada.
